Start with the end in mind

The book ‘The 7 habits of highly successful people’ by Stephen Covey has been sitting on my shelf for at least five years now. Although I knew that many swear by that book I never took the time to read it. Till about a year abo. Now it is one of my fav books, and… the wind of change is blowing ever since I read it.

One of the things that really hit me was Covey’s statement to ‘Start with the end in mind!’. The more I thinkt about it the more I find it fascinating. This is a life-changing lesson, applicable to all aspects of your life – your relationship with your kids, your business, your own personal development.

If you can clearly see what the desired end of something is, you will be able to take the best decisions, from the very beginning, without going astray every time something new pops up in front of you or in your mind. You will be able to stay focused despite disappointments, criticism or difficult times.

Since I have decided on what kind of company I want in the end, decision-making has become a lot more easier. Like say no to some business invitations or say good-bye to negative people.

Or go for that crazy idea of mine which I got in the summer of 2014 – to design a special bag collection! At first I was afraid that the bags wouldn’t really fit Brand, but after ‘beginning with the end in mind’ I was convinced that I had to do it. The bags fit perfectly! There are not many Personal Branding experts out there who also have their own bag collection, right.

And the nice part about it is that people get excited every time I tell them about my bags. They want such a bag too! They are the people who understand me, my brand, and share my vision. What a better way to build a Brand?!

So, get clear on what is it that you want in the end, and get going!!

Take a moment please and imagine how do YOU WANT your business to look like over 10 or 15 or 30 years. You will be amazed at what will ‘come across’ your mind.

Now is the time! Please write that book or write that song, or take that class. Whatever. Just go for it!!
