How to make clients want YOU (like they want McD)

My youngest son knew what McDonalds was at the age of 2 already, en especially where to find it. That would happen while driving and all of the sudden he would shout loudly with excitement ‘The EARS!!!’ by seeing the yellow arches rise above the trees at a far distance.

We would all laugh at his funny wording.

But this is a very good example of how a Brand works. It captures the attention and it makes you want it. Instantly.

It isn’t a secret that big companies invest millions and millions of dollars to build their brand identity and appeal to us, their customers, so we buy their products.

Why? Because this is the only way to do business! To have a strong brand identity.

How do big Brands do that?

A research shows that 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and that visual data is processed 60.000 times faster than text (Sources: 3M Corporation and Zabisco). This means that images quickly affect our emotions, and we all know that our emotions greatly affect our decision-making.

In other words: ‘I see McDonalds’ -> ‘I like being at McDonalds’ -> ‘I want it now!’

So how does this apply to you and your brand?

  • First of all make sure that whatever images related to you and your business your clients see are the right images! We call them On-Brand images.

Images sell because of their ability to influence. How you use images greatly affects how you position your business in the minds of your customers, and how your business is perceived.

  • Secondly, be very consistent in what you show them. How would it be if McDonalds used yellow arches and then green arches and then yellow again but in a different shape instead of arches?

People think using pictures!! And there the saying – a picture is worth a thousands words.
